Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting

This section will help you resolve common issues encountered while using ProtectCord. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot or get support if you run into problems.

1. Resetting Configuration Issues

If you’ve misconfigured ProtectCord or want to start over, you can reset the bot’s settings for your server.

  • Solution: Run the /clearconfig command to clear your server’s current configuration. This will reset ProtectCord to its default setup, allowing you to reconfigure settings from scratch.

2. Missing Permissions

ProtectCord requires certain permissions to function correctly. If it’s not responding or some features aren’t working as expected, ensure the bot has adequate permissions.

  • Solution: Verify that ProtectCord has the following permissions:

    • Manage Roles

    • Read and Send Messages

    • Embed Links

    • Use External Emojis

  • Tip: Make sure ProtectCord’s role is above the roles it needs to manage in your server’s role hierarchy.

3. Verifying Bot Status

If ProtectCord is not functioning or responding to commands, check its status to ensure it’s online and operational.

  • Solution: Go to the ProtectCord Discord or website to check for any known outages or maintenance announcements. You can also re-invite the bot to see if that resolves the issue.

4. User Verification Issues

If members are having trouble with the verification process, make sure the verification settings are properly configured.

  • Solution: Run the /setup command to confirm verification settings are active. Ensure that new members can see the verification channel, and that ProtectCord has permission to assign roles to verified members.

5. Reporting Bugs or Abuse

If you notice a bug in ProtectCord or encounter a user abusing the bot’s features, you can report the issue directly to the ProtectCord team.

  • Solution: Run the /report command, including relevant details:

    • User: The username of the individual involved.

    • Image: Screenshot or evidence of the issue.

    • Reason: A brief description of the problem.

  • Tip: ProtectCord’s support team will review the report and take necessary action.
